Nano Saltwater Tank Weekly Maintenance Schedule
1:40 There are actually no Favia in the hobby, as they are a West-Atlantic genus, while (almost) all the stony corals in the hobby are from the Indo-Pacific. 4:32 Most Fungia in the hobby are actually Cycloseris. True Fungia are pretty rare hobby-wise. 5:06 What we call "Bernardpora" in the hobby are not actually Bernardpora, but small-polyped Goniopora. True Bernardpora are rare in the hobby, and usually come in dull red or green.
Kalk getting clogged..... I run a bunch of ro through before I mix it he kalk in
Have the deltic stirrer, same, have a little brush i just clean the nozzle ever few weeks, dont think theres any way around it!
I wouldn't rent out your apogee Ryan - be way too much hassle keeping that well kept/packaging/etc. - for par meter rentals, I'd go the cheaper seneye route...
Exactly, and it's pointless putting a deposit on it to cover your losses. I was looking at the parwise rental and thinking why would I pay that huge deposit plus a fee each day when I could just buy a used one, use it, then sell it for the same money that I purchased it for. I'd end up spending less than renting.
I'd love to see an unedited video, it would be hilarious, you'll probably make more mistakes due to the pressure of knowing that it'll be unedited!
I can never get leptoseris to thrive in my tank for some reason
Did you ever do a follow-up video on this product? Do you trust it?
I didn't, no. I definitely trust it and the probe lasts up to 18 months in my experience. It's a pretty simple device but it's a good bit of kit.
Great video 👍, I would love one of those space indavder corals at some point in the collection.
I hate coral
not good vid at all
5 years on , is this pointer still true or has something else been proven ? I have everything here mentioned, a thriving lps display but can’t get plating monti or forest fire to grow
Just re-watched it. It's all still valid, but this isn't really a how to guide so there are better videos for that. Check out Coral Euphoria...
1:05:09 +1 for the Tenacious D reference :-)
LOVE the D!
Did you use the uk plug adapter for the dj switch? Or did you change all the plugs? I found all my plugs to be fused and impossible to open. Only way to add a new one was to cut the wires.
I just use adapters
@@ReefDork i bought a bunch of them from Amazon and they were advertised as 0.5m long. They came and they are tiny cables. Ergh. Still managed to set it up though. I'm just suffering from learning about all the plumbing at the moment, my water is super cloudy still :(
I love that Ryan just sitting here with sketches of naked woman over both shoulders 😂😂😂
When will you be doing a video on reef zlements?
I've stopped using it now so don't think I'll make a video - it wasn't for me
@@ReefDork Really any issues with it did it raise ph and maintain it?
@@reeferholic652 It raised pH massivley (too high for my liking at around 9) and it's super concentrated which doesn't suit a small tank. Didn't cause any issues with the tank though, it's just not for me.
@@ReefDork Cheers mate
Are asterina star fish sand sifters?
No, they just cling to the rock and glass
Any tips on water parameters for goniopora? I have one frag that has not seemed very happy the couple months I’ve had it. All my other LPS look great, including torches, but the Goni stays pretty clamped up even in a lower light and flow section of my tank. Love all your videos!!! Thank you!
Just keep the frag in low light low flow, and try to keep your parameters stable, Works for me so far! They will adapt to different conditions when they are a bit bigger from my experience
Just picked up a very unusual raspberry coloured cyphastrea
That pink yellow and blue favia stunning
Nice I'm a very very lazy hobbyist. I hardly ever test anything and don't dose anything at all! I Feed the fish and do a water change, using natural seawater, every couple of weeks. I have a selection of branching hammers (one might be a Frammer?) and a couple of Candy Canes. They are all thriving and look great. Making sure the flow is not too strong seems to be a key factor?? I am also in the process of switching to a bigger tank with good intentions re the monitoring etc and will definitely try a couple at the easier end of your list! I have no intention of trying any SPS as LPS just look so much better than temperamental twigs IMO
I have a beginner reef tank, but keeping torches always was easy for me! Idk how, i have no dosing, sometimes parameter swings, and keeping chalice for instance wasn't what successful. But my Golden Graal torch grew from 3 heads, to the whole 21! In just a year!
Oh Great! Wise! And Properly Monetized One! I am just an average bloke from the US. I applaud your rise. I have followed you When I first entered the reefing Hobby. The prices of coral continue to rise. Only the elite can kill them. My parameters are 8.2 PH and 1.23-1.25 every single day and hour. The water teems with pods and beneficial critters. Yet I just have a few softies and Duncan's. They live with 3 fish. The flow is excellent. All critters thrive
have you used the poop pipe on your bottom ?
jack o lanten lepto and Gonis are def in my top 5! I have a mycedeum chalice I just cant get to thrive! its not died but its not happy, and everything else is fine!
Lepto’s seem to always want to bleach for me unless they’re way in the shade then they just exist with no growth.
@@NuckChorris81 that's weird mine are in full light! albeit at the bottom of my tank, so a decent amount of light will have dissipated but they are growing really well
Well. I have everything on the list. Guess I beat the game 😂😂
I had a bernardpora from prestige reef he really thrived about a third from the top in loads of flo and light with long lashing polyps, then i moved him and rearranged my tank and he promptly died he was nearly half the size of tennis ball 😢 my wifes favorite. Gutted two years i had him.
Orange Spot Filefish, Beautiful, Alternative Aiptasia eating Filefish, Yeah dead ringers.
Some beauts on there I’ll be adding to mine, I’ve gone more hammers thou, just after a blue one next , maybe aac will have one at the end of the month…
Shame you guys in the uk can't get acanthophyllia or indophyllia they're my favorite lps corals
While they are easier some of them take for ever to grow 😂
Nice one Alex nice selection
Great vid Alex, definitely some gorgeous corals there. Mad how all our tanks differ isn't it? I can grow torches and chalice like theres no tomorrow, but find the bullet proof "favia" incredibly difficult 😄
Dang it, you're gonna make me buy another LPS.
i knew the number 1 before i clicked on the video!😉the green trumpet was a bit of an eye opener for me, that looks so good!
😅🤓
Thinking about going with this setup, are you still using this arrangement? Are you happy with it? Thanks in advance. Cheers.
I wasn't happy with the colour the Reefbrites gave off in the end. Swap them for AI Blades and 🤌
This is brilliant. All of these "its easy to do a nano saltwater tank" videos just got shutdown by this video of adding this and adding that and with products that are named with words that aren't even part of the english language.
That T-shirt is fantastic! Haha!!
It always bums me seeing such a pretty butterfly fish, but knowing I can’t have it without losing some prized corals. I need a fish only system!
Brilliant stream. The Hanna phosphate test kit issues with dosing silicates just blew my mind. Same thing happened to me. .3 on Hanna and almost 0 on a new Salifert test kit. Thanks
I gotta be honest, your videos are simply amazing. But I've never once smelled my skimmer gunk 🤣
Try it dude...
So cute!
Very nice 🙌👌✌️
They grow to they can
I LOVED my aptasia eating filefish. He jumped out and blended in with my carpet when i cleaned the tank :( i have spent 2 months trying ti find another
Mandarins are bloody impossible to keep alive. I had a dragon wrasse that died for no reason as well
My flame hawkfish ismy fabourite fish ive ever had! He's also extremely strong and survived VALVET disease
Ive had 2 moorish idols in my 150 eating everything i put in the tank. It could be that the harbor i catch them in hawaii, they get fed by the anglers
Awesome video 👊
Cheers Stef
